"You think just because Lillian is his daughter, he won't hurt her? That's a stupid belief."

Rin sighed, "I doubt he ever had a drop of love for Lillian. Who knows? He's insane, obviously. Lillian's mother is a different story... but she went missing years ago."

"Well, I think asking someone from the government is a good idea," Adrik spoke up after his long silence. "Simply, without help, we can do nothing. With help, we have more of a chance of success..." He suddenly looked rather bashful. "...Right?"

"I suppose, maybe, that due to the monster attacks they would at least have some kind of form of defense..."

Rin didn't feel much safer, and it sounded like she was trying to convince herself.

"...I just... kingdoms can have many defenses but if every single one of them is weak, then the defenses are useless..."
