A hulking figure strode forward, removing her hood to reveal the face of a half-orc girl.
"He's right," Jack said quietly. "It's too dangerous for us to be loitering around here."

"We should go back to the city," Wheeze said. "Quickly but quietly."
He shuddered, his hand going to the swords at his waist. "We don't want to wake up the Baguette Gnomes."
But the Baguette Gnomes weren't all he was worried about, he thought with another glance at the gloomy trees. Something really wasn't right with the Empire, and he could feel it in the air that weighed down heavily on his shoulders with wrongness.

Meerkat stood up and brushed herself off. "Um, does anyone by any chance have a piece of cloth that I could use? Or rope, that's fine too, it's just," she gestured to the broken bag and the supplies that were strewn about. "Yeah,"

"I got you," Wheeze said, tossing Meerkat his shoulder bag.
It thumped on the ground, for it contained a few croissants, and he flinched at the sound, his spine beginning to crawl.
Something was watching.

"Hey, I don't come here to be safe," Brae sighed.

"Well-"
Wheeze was interrupted by a rustling in the bushes, followed by a deceptively cheery series of squeaks. His sword was drawn immediately, and his heart raced, pounding in his chest like thunder.
"Back away," he whispered. "Very. Slowly."

Brae, naturally, disobeyed.

Lavender tilted her head in curiosity at the squeaks, but slowly crouched back down into her trap anyway.

"All of you," Wheeze hissed, "those are Baguette Gnomes."

Brae, not being from here, did not care. She sat down on the ground and began knitting a scarf that would strangle people, just to prove she could.

"Not the gnomes!" Monday exclaimed, backing away.
