You walked over to the table and sat down. Made of old, worn wood, the table's bench creaked loudly when you sat. On the table itself, various candies are scattered around. There were some chocolates, sour candies, and candy corn. A few opened wrappers hint that there were more, but someone else ate them. Was someone else there? Ignoring those thoughts, you picked up a chocolate bar and took a bite. It was delicious, but you craved more.

What should you do?

Next to the candy table is a wooden box. It's grainy and old, with some moss growing on the outside. When you open it up, a bit of you fears it'll collapse. Luckily, its structural integrity is still good. Inside, there's a vampire costume, a fisherman costume, a ghost sheet, and a Frankenstein costume- No, not the creature, I mean the college dropout. You also find a  werewolf mask, a mannequin(?) mask, and a octopus mask. There are also some candies at the bottom of the chest.

As you rummage through, something catches your peripheral vision.

Wait, is that a dude in a hockey mask?


What should you do?

-Look at hockey mask dude.
-"Nope" your way inside to pumpkin carving.
-Ignore and put on a costume.
-Ignore and do something else.

You chose, "Ignore and put on costume!" 


You've been to quite a few pumpkin patches in your short life. Random dude in a hockey mask isn't the weirdest thing you've seen. Ignoring that sight, you carefully pulled out each costume. Pulling off a few old candies, they were ready for dress-up. Now you had to decide which one to put on. 


What should you do?

You can pick one costume and one mask.

Silently putting the mask over your head, you noticed it was rubbery and cheap. Reddish faux hair coated the top, an imitation of a popular haircut. You wondered if it was a poor attempt at a normal human mask, or just a mannequin mask. Either way, you squinted at the rest of the costumes through its shoddy eyeholes. Perhaps you could put on another mask, but it'd probably be too heavy.

The hockey mask dude is still standing there, unspeaking. Not the weirdest thing to happen.

The sheet is an old one, used for a child's bed. You're a bit too tall, but for the most part, it covers your legs. Now you look like some weird mannequin-ghost thing.  Almost like something from an urban legend. You pick off the CANDIES stuck to the sheet, and put them in your pocket.

The hockey mask dude disappeared, but you get the feeling you're being watched.

What should you do?

-Look for hockey mask dude
-Go back to candies
-Carve pumpkins
 

You chose, "Carve pumpkins!"

Walking inside, you shut the log cabin's door, locking it with a click. There are a ton of pumpkins, alongside some tables and carving tools. The air is sticky and sweet. Sometimes you could see spiders or snakes crawling around. Someone really needed to clean up this room.

Ignoring all the grime and (pumpkin) guts, you walked over to the table. Picking up a medium-sized pumpkin, one the size of your head, you began carving. Guts splashed off the table as you carved, alongside seeds and orange stuff. A jagged grin soon appeared, then some bright eyes. When you're finished, you look at the smiling, toothy face. You're proud of your new Jack 'O Lantern! 

Knock knock knock knock KNOCK!

Something knocked at the door. The knock was heavy and hasty. You can see a massive shadow underneath the door. It's hard to tell if whoever's knocking is friendly or not.


What should you do?


-Barricade the door
-Open the door
-Ignore

You chose, "Barricade the door"!

Shoving with all your might, you push two tables onto the door. You hear the knocking become louder, being followed with some thudding. At least you have some time before whatever's behind the door gets in.

The knocking has stopped. But now you can hear heavy footsteps outside of the cabin. 


What should you do?


-Look through inventory
-Look around
-Pick up sculpting tool.

You chose, "Pick up sculpting tool!"

All pumpkin carving masters know a great ally is a chainsaw. Unfortunately, you are not a master, nor do you have a chainsaw. Instead, you pick up a thin, pointy TOOL with a scoop on the other end. It's the best you can do at the moment, and something is currently trying to break down the door. You lower your body and spread your legs, trying to appear more intimidating. Unfortunately for you, it's probably not a bear you're fighting.

...What's that at the window?


What should you do?

-Investigate the window.
-Try to find a way out.
-Stand and prepare to fight.

You chose, "Investigate the window"!

Poking your head out of the window, you gaze at the wilderness. Looking below, you see something. It definitely isn't the hockey mask dude. Rather, it's long and sinewy, reflecting no light. Its smile extends beyond its head, spiraling on its serpentine body. It hasn't noticed you yet.

Near the door, you can see hockey mask dude pacing. You cannot tell if said hockey mask dude was one knocking. You haven't been noticed yet. Basing off the hockey masked dude's trajectory, you will be noticed very soon if you do nothing. Sweat beads drip down your neck.

What should you do?


-Continue staring
-Dart back inside
-Throw tool

You chose, "Throw tool"!

Winding back with all your might, you throw the TOOL against the long, serpentine form. It screeched, looking at you with four eyes. Flipping over in panic, its smile, from the bottom, looked like a frown. Squinting, it looked up at you angrily, before wriggling into window and sitting on the ground next to you. Suddenly, it spoke, "WHAT DID YOU DO THAT FOR?"

Hearing the commotion, hockey mask dude turns around and looks at you. You've been noticed, and soon the mask-wearing dude will be at the window. Panicked, you look around. Touching your pockets underneath the ghost sheet, you come up with an idea.

What should you do?


-Jump out of window
-Pick up pumpkin
-Offer CANDY

You chose, "Offer candy"!

Quickly rummaging around your pocket, you find the snacks. Old candies glitter in your hand. Delicious. But there is no time to think, hockey mask dude is nearly upon you. Barely hiding the fear in your voice, you yell out, "Hey, want some?"

Hockey mask dude stops and looks down at you. He's far taller than you and built like a bear. He raises his hand and... takes the CANDY. So that's why there were candies in the costume box. Hockey mask dude nods as a thanks. Maybe he wasn't trying to kill you after all?

In the corner of your eye, you notice the smiling serpent-thing has disappeared.

After a minute of shock, you jump out of the window. Hockey mask dude is now sitting at the table, eating some candies. Can he teleport? Eh, not important. It's still night, even though it has felt like hours. Now you can breathe, although you still feel unnerved by the lack of people. A pamphlet dances in the air, falling gracefully onto your face. It has a photoshop of skeletons, pumpkins, and ghosts. On it, it reads in mangled text, "HalLowEeN PaRRty aT the MALL!"

You now have access to the Mall!

What should you do?

-Talk to Hockey-mask-dude.
-Change costume.
-Eat some candy.
-Carve pumpkin.
-Travel to the Mall!
