Meanwhile, Lavender is basically hiding underground, peeking above ground through a trap door.

She giggles softly as Wheeze comes closer to the trap door, eager to make him fall into her trap.

Meerkat comes the opposite direction on the path, trying to carry a flimsy bag of building supplies she’d picked up from a dealer. 

“Shoot shoot shoot shoot,” Meerkat groans as the bag’s handle breaks, the contents now strewn across the path. She doesn’t notice Wheeze as she gathers all the parts.

Lavender got out of the way just in time for her to not get crushed by Wheeze. That didn't mean that she wasn't laughing hysterically, though.

"Greetings, kormade!" She said between laughs. "What's up? Well, definitely not you, that's for sure! Ha ha ha ha ha!!"

Brae is sitting in the other side of the path. She raises her eyebrows at the strangeness of it all.

Brae shook her head.
"Don't ask," she muttered.

“...hi?” Meerkat smiled slightly. “If I might ask, what in the world is going on here?"

Specter basically did an o.o expression and hurried over to the trapdoor.
"What the heck happened?"

"Oh, come on, it was just a prank!" Lavender exclaimed, rolling her eyes. "You guys should really lighten up."

"But the prank could've been dangerous," Specter pointed out.

"If the person falls the wrong way..."

Brae walked forward, unsure.
