"Why're you asking?" Laura retorted.

Leaf, who'd been watching, said, "Hey, everyone, calm down. We're here to learn, not to fight, so let's not hurt each other, okay?"

Ivy let out a noncommittal grunt in response to Riven, still eyeing Laura with hostility.

"He wasn't doing anything to you."

Laura turned to Ivy. "Whatcha looking at?"

She momentarily looked over her shoulder at Asterin. "He knows what he was doing."

Riven found enough concentration to turn himself back into his human form. "A-acutally, I d-don't." He spoke up.
Offline
"Well, what do you think he was doing?"

"He was eyeing my muffin."

Asterin raised his eyebrows. All this over food?

"...oh," Riven blinked in surprise. "I... don't think I was? I j-just looked at you because you l-looked at me. And, besides, I-I already had a muffin." He gestured to the half-eaten chocolate chip muffin that was near where he was formerly sitting.

Tessa noticed that the girl's skin was unusually cold, but said nothing. "Perhaps going back in there isn't the best thing to do," she waved a hand at the dining hall, where they could see that some sort of chaos had broke out. "Might I ask why you were hiding in the bushes? You don't have to answer that."
Offline
"And I looked at you 'cause you were looking at my muffin!"
The girl shrugged. "I was worried that I'd look suspicious."

"Back off," Ivy growled, now back in her human form. "He wasn't doing anything to you. Now you've just ruined everyone's breakfast."

Laura rolled her eyes, stuffed her hands in her pockets, and began walking off. This isn't over, she thought, directing the thought at Riven.

Riven let out a shaky sigh, but jolted back into nervousness when he heard Laura's thought. He managed to stay in human form this time, though, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm s-sorry for all the trouble," he murmured to the other kids quietly.
Offline
"Wasn't your fault." Leaf told him, keeping their voice quiet so Laura wouldn't hear. I don't want to have to deal with her again, and I'm sure he doesn't, either.

"Well you were particularly fast, I don't think anybody else would have seen you," Tessa said, also noticing the girl's jewelry. It was particularly quiet outside, but Tessa could hear a faint humming sound. It could be the jewelry. "That's nice," she went on to say, motioning to the girl's skull necklace.

Breach was really just silent, and noting all the drama going on.

"Thanks." The girl fiddled with her necklace a bit upon receiving the compliment. A pause. "My mom says she thinks it's nice too."

Tessa smiled again. "I think it suits you!" She looked out at the landscape for a moment, and then grabbed her phone and took a picture. After struggling to see it, she held it up to the girl. "What do you think?"

Riven frowned doubtfully at Leaf. "To be f-fair, it sort of w-was my f-fault. My panicking made m-me look more s-suspicious, and that p-provoked her." He looked at the ground, downcast. "S-stupid powers, making me ch-change when I'm nervous..."

The girl stroked her chin in thought before she settled on a verdict. "I like it. The angle's pretty good," she remarked.

"Aw, thank you!" Tessa put her phone back into her pocket. "And, I don't believe I got your name?"
