You stumble through the last of the hazy, golden sand into the first patch of blissful shade. Taking a deep breath, you survey your surroundings. A black dragon with a green underbelly smiles at you, gesturing for you to come over and take the canteen of water that he is holding. Palm trees ring the small, clear pool in groves, providing patches of shade and cooling the sand underneath them. You sink your talons in, feeling the grains run through the patterns of your scales, and sigh. Such a long flight to get here, but it was definitely worth it. An animal hide canvas, carefully sowed to be waterproof, covers a small structure made of leaves and sticks, probably where the dragon lives. He smiles at you and waves you over again. You think for a second before beginning to walk out of the shade towards him, admiring the beautiful oasis.

Maybe living in the desert isn't so bad, after all.
