Neuhaven School for the Gifted and Powerful is a name that can roll off the tongue of almost any student in Neuhaven you ask. An extraordinary castle rising above the sea, you are one of the lucky few to attend the school, as well as being lucky enough to live in Neuhaven, a secluded city on the German coast brimming with magic and mystery. In this city of intrigue, as a teenager roaming the halls of a renowned school, who are you? What will you do?

You can find info on the RP's world, species, etc. here.

RULES
1. Be respectful of others. If you have a problem with someone, take it up in private messages.
2. The standard forum rules apply here, and as such, mild cursing is fine, but don't go overboard with it.
3. LGBTQ+ ships and characters are okay; straight ships and characters are okay; pedophilic, incestuous, etc. ships and characters are not.
4. On the topic of shipping, your character is allowed to have a crush on someone else's character, but if you'd like to take it further than just a crush, contact the other RPer(s) and ask for permission.
5. Don't be OP and/or a Mary Sue.
6. Private RP threads are private for a reason; ask before you waltz into one.
7. This isn't a rule, more like a note- please do not go into insane detail when it comes to your characters. Not only is it tedious to read and slows down the form acceptance process, it can get uncomfortable at times when you go into insane detail about... certain body parts; keep detail moderate. Don't go too far, don't use strings of adjectives.
8. I get it's hard not to sometimes, but don't minimod.
9. This isn't a rule either, it's just a note again, but keep in mind abilities is skills and powers.
10. Understand that the mod(s) may change these rules at any time.
11. All thread titles must be preceded by the abbreviation NSGP.
12. A note again- visual references for appearances are fine as long as the references are by you and/or your character specifically, not just, like, a random anime girl from the Internet and saying that's what your character looks like. If another artist created the work of your character, credit them. Picrews are (at least somewhat) fine, just remember to credit.
13. Homophobia, racism, antisemitism, etc. isn't going to be tolerated.
14. Fourth wall break as little as possible, if at all.

Appearance: Ivy stands at around 5’8”, with a pale complexion and a lithe, slender build. She has wavy brown hair that reaches her shoulders and gray-green eyes. As for apparel, she’s usually seen wearing a camo jacket over a black tank top, jeans, and sneakers. When she shapeshifts, she assumes the form of a tawny-brown lioness.
Personality: Ivy is extremely proud, if a bit overconfident, and refuses to accept help from others. She often comes off as vain or egotistical because of her attitude, and may unintentionally push people away from her due to this. She’s also very blunt, not one to sugarcoat her words for the sake of others, and has little patience. However, if she finds something that she’s truly dedicated to, she’ll work feverishly towards that goal, completely devoting herself to it. She’s also quite clever and can quickly worm her way out of a situation.
Abilities: Can speak Russian, English, and some German. Fairly fast and flexible; has learned to control her transformations virtually at will. Also, cats seem to love her for some reason?
Strengths: A quick thinker; physically fit; determined.
Weaknesses: Overestimates her abilities; tends not to think through her actions.
*History: Ivy was born to a were couple in the United States and inherited their shapeshifting abilities. After a series of mishaps with her transformations, her parents feared for their safety and secrecy; as a result, they moved to Neuhaven when she was 14, where they now reside. She’s currently attending the Academy as a Year 11 student.

Name: Alfred Hund
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Species: Were
Appearance: Alfred rises to a height of 5’8”. His light olive complexion is covered in dimples, with most of them clustering around the corners of his lips. His upturned blue eyes are framed by short lashes. His brown locks are dyed yellow at the tips, their lemon hue matching the color of the paint splatter-stained sweatshirt he’s almost always wearing. A pair of jeans and yellow sneakers are two other staples of his attire. His dog form is kind of just a fluffy brown dog.
Personality: Alfred is someone who lives and breathes art. He can be a bit dramatic about it- and dramatic in general, not gonna lie- but he means well. He’s always pushing his friends to try something new (read: art). He’s unconscious about how his behavior may come off to others, though, as he was never really taught it could possibly be annoying; he’s not too self-aware. He’s pretty optimistic. He’s passive-aggressive when he’s angry, albeit unknowingly, feeding into his lack of self-awareness.
Abilities: Alfred speaks German as his first language, English as his second, and can speak Spanish somewhat, although not fluently. He’s great at painting and understands many artistic concepts. Arts and crafts are his game. He turns into a dog on half and full moons.
Strengths: Optimistic, agile, fairly book smart
Weaknesses: Not that self-aware, who’s physical strength?, can’t control his transformations and not that street smart
*History: Alfred was born and raised in Neuhaven. Both of his parents were avid artists who wanted to share their hobby with their son who, from a young age, gladly embraced it. He’d often skip extracurricular activities just to go do art with his parents. He started attending the school in Year 9.

Appearance: Riven has fluffy, black hair and heterochromia, having a seafoam green eye and a dark blue eye. He stands at about 5’6” and has tan skin. He usually wears a navy fleece jacket with gray jeans, navy sneakers, a necklace with brown beads and a light blue feather, and a seafoam t-shirt underneath. In cat form, he is a black tabby Turkish Angora. He also occasionally wears square, black-rimmed reading glasses.
Personality: Riven is pretty anxious, especially around other people. He tends to like the animals and cryptids of Neuhaven more than the students of his own school. He can’t connect to people well and he can be pretty cowardly. He is, however, self aware, and can spend an hour thinking about what he did wrong in his last test or conversation. He’s very intelligent and curious, however, especially about cryptids and the magic of the Rift.
Abilities: Riven can speak English, Italian, and some German. His quick-thinking can get him out of a lot of situations. While he can turn into a cat, he can’t control it that well; he usually transforms when he’s panicking or very nervous. He also has another power: water manipulation.
Strengths: Quick-thinker, booksmart, pretty agile
Weaknesses: Very anxious, a coward, not that physically strong, and is not the best at controlling his powers.
*History: Riven was born and raised in Italy by his were-parents. When Riven started developing his shapeshifting and water-manipulation powers, his parents were overwhelmed, and sent him to live with his aunt in Neuhaven when he was 10 to help him with his abilities. He’s currently a year 10 student at the school.

Species: Vampire
Appearance: Laura is pretty short, standing at 5'. Her skin is bone white, like something dumped a bunch of bleach on her and called it a day. She normally styles her mid-back length, bleached-but-dyed-with-streaks-of-various-shades-of-pink curls in a low ponytail. Her gold eyes are slightly downturned. Her wardrobe is filled with baggy sweaters that are definitely too big for her and she's almost always carrying a lacy parasol around. She also really enjoys wearing butterfly hairclips.
Personality: Laura will fight you, she'll fight a kindergartener, she'll fight the elderly, she'll fight anyone and everyone; despite her cutesy appearance, she's bellicose. It's safe to say Laura is hot-headed. She's optimistic... about the fact she can win any fight, even though she almost never does. When she's irritated, she'll probably try to fight you, whether it be verbally or physically. Same goes for when she's flustered, when she's disappointed, etc.
Abilities: Laura has telepathy, which allows her to issue somewhat ominous, non-verbal threats, though she can only threaten one person at a time. She's fluent in German and English, as well as being conversational in Romanian; she knows some pretty basic French.
Strengths: Definitely got some willpower, street smart, flexible
Weaknesses: A bit over her head, lacks book smarts, not physically strong

Appearance: Leaf has short, fluffy hair dyed dark green, light brown skin, and large, startlingly bright green eyes. They stand at 5'5", with long, lithe limbs, and a fairly light frame. Typically, they wear light, fashionable clothing in shades of green, gold, and brown.
Personality: Leaf is slightly (read: completely) obsessed with nature, specifically, with the plants, animals, and fungi in Neuhaven (and especially with symbolism associated with different flowers). They carry around a notebook which contains their notes on and drawings of the flora and fauna of Neuhaven, which they'll gladly show to anyone who asks. Also, they believe that proper application of magic and rift zones can be extremely helpful in preserving the environment. They've got a tendency to ramble about their interests, which can be annoying, but if you've got any questions about drawing, how magic and nature interact, or what flower you should give to your crush, Leaf's the one to go to.
Abilities: Leaf can create small illusions, although they aren't that great at maintaining said illusions. They speak English fluently, French and German conversationally, and they're learning Arabic.
Strengths: Knowledgeable about nature, book smart, fairly skilled at drawing/sketching, good at staying calm, generally kind
Weaknesses: Socially awkward, physically weak, not great at controlling their powers, doesn't always stand up for themself

Appearance: Mackenzie is a petite girl with a fairly muscular frame, boasting a height of 5'4". Her ivory complexion is covered in freckles. Her eyes are dark brown. Strands of straight red hair frame her face as blunt bangs hover ever-so-slightly above her eyebrows; her choppy hair is styled in a chin-length bob. She wears a lot of jewelry, most notably: a necklace with a white skull charm, some black rings, among others, all of which seems to emanate a faint, eerie hum. A black messenger bag is slung over her shoulder.
Personality: Mackenzie is someone who doesn't really have a sense of identity, causing her to behave erratically; one moment she may be a cheerful and peppy friend, the other she's all doom and gloom. She's a little bit paranoid and distrustful of others, so she tries to avoid them, and especially avoids giving them information about herself if she can. It should also be noted she has poor social skills and when she does get flustered she's not entirely sure how to handle it. She tends to be pretty blunt, but can bite her tongue sometimes if she's not irritated. Underneath her layers of erraticness and avoidance, though, she's a pretty kind person who just doesn't know what to do with herself or how to behave. She doesn't like being blindsided, and if she finds she's been lied to, it's not pretty for anyone involved.
Abilities: Mackenzie has the ability to see and communicate with ghosts, even if they're consciously invisible. When she nears ghosts, she gets a ringing in her ears that only increases as she grows near them and fades away as they leave, although when she's around them for a bit the ringing fades... after bursts of pain and the occasional scream. She's pretty good at sneaking around and makeup, and excels in various forms of combat. She's fluent in English and Japanese.
Strengths: Pretty strong, quick on her feet/street smarts(tm), pretty kind deep down inside
Weaknesses: Lacks a sense of identity, paranoid, bad social skills
*History: Shady girl, shady past. Maybe a drug dealer? Murderer? Who knows. She's seen around (or will be later on, at least).

Appearance: Tessa has tan skin dusted with freckles and stands about 5’3”. Her eyes are hazel, and she has wavy, dark brown hair, about shoulder length. She wears round glasses. Her wardrobe primarily consists of t-shirts that she’s acquired over her travels and cuffed jeans/shorts, but she always wears high tops and an oversized black bomber jacket. When she shapeshifts, she assumes the form of a red panda.
Personality: Tessa is well-traveled, which has given her an open-minded outlook on most things. When it comes to photography, her main passion, her perfectionist side sometimes shows. She’s at her best when exploring new places, and can read a room fairly well. Although she’s good at talking to people, she has a hard time establishing close relationships since she’s moved around so much. She’s very observant. Listening to music is a big thing for her, she’s almost always in earbuds, and she likes using them the most when exploring somewhere new. She tends to keep a stack of sticky notes in her jacket pocket in case she needs to defend herself.
Abilities: Tessa has the ability to manipulate paper, but she's unpracticed and can only do small things. She's much better at shapeshifting, but occasionally has trouble shifting back into a human. She can speak English, Filipino, and German; she also knows some simple words/phrases from various other languages, picked up from travelling. She’s a great photographer.
Strengths: street smart, resourceful, learns fast, observant
Weaknesses: sometimes impulsive, awful eyesight/can’t do much without her glasses, emotions can affect her powers, a bit of a perfectionist
*History: Tessa was born in the Philippines, but started to travel with her were-father and older brother, also a were, when she was four. When she was fourteen, her brother started demonstrating powers, and their father decided they should settle in Neuhaven for a while. Now, she’s a year 10 student at the academy.

Species: Fairy
Appearance: Asterin has grey eyes with hints of blue. He has fluffy, usually light blue hair and white feathered wings that span about 10ft. He stands at 5 "5 and has pale skin that never seems to tan. Asterin usually wears large sweaters or hoodies and black sometimes ripped jeans, along with lots of earrings.
Personality: He's very sweet and kind, and would do anything to help someone no matter the cost to himself. Asterin is compassionate, and has been described as caring too much about others and the world. He's very self-conscious and hard on himself, and would spend all of his time practicing if he could. He has some self-image problems, and believes that everyone is better than him.
Abilities: Surprisingly, no magical ones except the wings, although he seems to have a knack for figure skating.
Strengths: Asterin is a figure skater, and has been training his whole life for it. He also is a great singer, but doesn't sing for anyone.
Weaknesses: He can't fly in any sort of extreme weather, and is horrible at French {which is the language he is learning}
*History: He grew up in a poor town, and both of his parents died of a sickness that passed through it. The people of the town weren't very kind to him, and so with nowhere to go Asterin decided to find somewhere. He eventually stumbled across Neuhaven.

Name: Breach Aoki (I just used the first word I thought of in my mind plus some Japanese last name)
Age: (14-18): 17
Gender: Male
*Orientation: Straight, but idk if he would even be shipped.
Species: boring old human
Appearance: Breach has white hair, with bangs whereupon he makes sure he keeps them out of his eyes. Though if he knows there’s going to be some sort of activity, he might clip, push it to the side, or tie it up or something his eyes are a crimson red, and his skin is pale, but not by too much. He is built athletically and thin.
When in public, he makes sure to wear something more formal or at least something respectable. Something with pants. Maybe also with a white somewhat thick coat and white shirt.
Personality: Breach is mainly a quiet guy. He only says things he thinks that needs to be said. And that’s a lot of the time, really, really blunt remarks. He doesn’t really understand when people seem more hurt or offended when he tells the truth. It’s the truth! Why would someone be angry at that? Breach also seems to, despite his quiet demeanor, have, or at least give off a know it all attitude, maybe it could be because of his remarks or something. Yeah, probably that. When it comes to getting something done, Breach is quick to do it. Immediately. He takes quick initiative. If you make any sort of threat to him, he would be one to take it very seriously. He takes a lot of things way more seriously than it really should be.
Abilities: I just decided to choose a simple energy manipulation stuff. Breach can use any sword or sword-like object to boost his power, speed, and fighting prowess. If things get serious, he can imbue his weapon with glowing destructive energy, which can end up sending out slashes of energy. Without a sword, he can’t do anything, he’s just like a normal human. He’s slower and weaker in general as well. Breach wishes to learn and develop his power more, to something more than just combat. I think he would be able to speak Japanese and English, and maybe a little bit, or learning German? all three of which I can't speak.
Strengths: Breach was very skilled in swordsmanship and has plenty of control and discipline. He’s also very aware, and good at analyzing things.
Weaknesses: Without a weapon, he’s almost helpless. be overly direct and blunt. Zero sugarcoat. He also gives out an aura of arrogance or knows it all… ness.
*History: Hmmm maybe as things are developed? I feel that he was trained by someone in his family, maybe his parents or grandfather or something. But if he were to learn swordsmanship, he must’ve come from a country with... swords and stuff. So I think he at least spent most of his childhood in Akamatsu, Japan, which is where he learned his swordsmanship, of course.
Other: I know, sword bad in school. But… can he carry it around? In cloth or something? Still no? Can he have it chillin at home/his dorm? It would be some Japanese, one bladed sword. Still no? Can he have… like a metal stick he carries around, which is still sword-like enough to use his power? PoV

Wait also, what are residency forms used for?

breach is accepted! and yeah, he could carry it around in school, but it'd have to be sheathed. having it at dorm/home is perfectly acceptable regardless of whether or not its sheathed
